NUESTRA LENGUA VIVE SI LA HABLAMOS

This is a book that collects the good ideas of the “National Workshop of Linguistic Normalization.” This workshop took place on August 20-22, 2009 in Cochabamba, Bolivai. Now one can see all of the presentations from the event in this book. In this event, many academic institutions were present, as well as many organizations. In this way, they titled the workshop “Our Language Lives if We Speak.”

In reality, only when we speak in our language will it live on forever. If we do not speak it, then it will remain just one more extinct langauge, just as it happened with Latin and other languages. It is for this reason that many people have come to realize this lately. Well, as Aymara speakers, we must speak Aymara in all contexts, just as Quechua speakers and speakers of other languages. It is nice to see in institutions of higher education and in many schools that they are teaching Aymara. All of this strengthens our languages.

It this book all of the linguistic policies are discussed. With the vision of moving our languages forward, it is a topic that must be reflected by each reader. Let’s speak our language so that it will live on forever.

My dear mother, you are very pretty
Like that flower
Your face shines like the Illimani mountain
Your thoughts are great

You think of me
from the very early morning to nightfall
You love me
With a great affection

My dear mother
Only you knows my suffering
Only you knows how
I want to be with you always

You are the greatest
You brought me into this world
You brought to see the light of day
How can I thank you, my dear mother

You are here with me
You bring me joy to my language
If it wasn’t for you
Nothing would be like needs to be

Where are you going now, mother?
Come here
Hey!!! Listen to me, mother
I want to go with you

Mother, what is happening to you
Why do you have the sad look on your face
Mother!!! Listen to me
Or are there bad people that hate you?

Esto no me parece bien
Ey…!!! No hagas caso
Tu ve con tú fuerza
No te agotes.
mamita… mamita…
mamita…!!!
Madre…madre…
Yo te quiero mucho
Madre…!!!

I don’t like that
Hey…!!! Don’t listen to them
You carry on with your strength
Don’t wear yourself out
Mother…mother
Mother!!!!
I love you
Mother…!!!
